20.09.2024 9th Rectors' Forum of Southeast Europe and Western Balkans
From September 11th to 12th, the 9th meeting of the Rectors' Forum of Southeast Europe and the Western Balkans was held at St. Kliment Ohridski University in Bitola, North Macedonia. Established several years ago, this regional collaboration has since facilitated close cooperation among the universities of the region, strengthening the Rectors’ Forum as a key network for higher education. The forum aims to enhance partnerships between universities and serve as a unified voice for academic institutions in the region.
This year, the forum primarily focused on the future development of university alliances and university values. Prof. Dr. Enita Nakaš, Vice Rector for International Cooperation at the University of Sarajevo, delivered an insightful presentation on integrating peace and social responsibility into student teaching. She emphasized the role of the EU Peace Alliance and the necessity of embedding peace not only through curriculum changes but also in the social actions of universities. Drawing from global insights and the shifting dynamics of Generation Z, she advocated for an education system that fosters harmony, conflict resolution, and social well-being at all levels. A brief overview of her presentation is available here.
