On September 17, Assoc. Prof. Iryna Ivanets represented Kyiv National Economics University (KNEU) and Marburg University at an inspiring event hosted by the Université de Toulouse and La Région Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée in Toulouse.

The event brought together representatives from European Universities Alliances to discuss how to extend partnerships beyond the EU and ways to create lasting global cooperation. Dr. Ivanets was proud to participate in the panel "Cooperation with Ukraine: Strengthening Ties among Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions with the European Higher Education Sector."

In her presentation “Navigating New Frontiers: Best Practices, Challenges, and Future Directions in the University of Marburg and KNEU Collaboration” she presented the 6 impactful projects initiated between KNEU and Marburg University since the invasion of Ukraine, such as KNEU on the MO:VE, a virtual study program, which already gave 2.400 Ukrainian students the chance to continue their studies at Marburg University. Challenges such as the synchronization of curricula and study materials were discussed. The presentation was concluded with ideas to strengthen ties between European Higher Education and Ukrainian Universities by expanding joint research, harmonizing curricula , enhanced digital learning, capacity building, addressing structural challenges, and inclusivity. All this must be part of a long-term plan that aligns with Ukraine’s EU accession and the Bologna process. „A Window into Ukrainian Students' Lives.",  a short video created by Ukrainian students was shown during the presentation (the video can be found here). Dr. Ivanets thanked Marburg University for its continued support, especially Prof. Elisabeth Schulte from the School of Business and Economics for enabling Ukranian students and educators to strengthen resilience in the face of war.

During the event, productive conversations among the alliances addressed key challenges: balancing the need to deepen partnerships while expanding globally, strategically positioning alliances for maximum impact and value, tackling funding limitations and resource constraints, overcoming cultural and communication barriers, and navigating legal and regulatory obstacles.

“These discussions have reinforced the need for ongoing collaboration, innovative solutions, and continued support for higher education institutions as we navigate these complex issues together” states Dr. Ivantes. She is looking forward to what the future holds for global partnerships.
