18.12.2024 EUPeace and ECPD Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Strengthen Collaboration

The European University for Peace, Justice, and Inclusive Societies, EUPeace and the European Center for Peace and Development, ECPD, of the University for Peace established by the United Nations have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding, marking a significant step toward fostering cooperation in the fields of education, research, and development. This partnership underscores the shared commitment of both organisations to promote peace, development, and innovation through collaborative efforts.

EUPeace is dedicated to strengthening the enabling conditions for peace: understanding them better through research, nurturing them actively through education, and fostering them broadly through societal outreach and innovative practices. ECPD has a long-standing history of promoting peace, reconciliation, socio-economic development and international cooperation through capacity building that is achieved by organising and offering postgraduate studies, applied research, consulting and dissemination of knowledge. Together, their shared vision aims to create impactful solutions to pressing global issues.

The MoU outlines a framework for joint activities in the areas of collaborative educational and academic initiatives to promote knowledge sharing and capacity building; research projects and studies on social issues; technological research and development projects aimed at addressing global challenges; efforts to support developing countries through tailored development cooperation programmes; joint participation in European collaboration programmes to strengthen regional partnerships.

This partnership highlights the potential of interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration in achieving sustainable peace and development. By leveraging their respective strengths, EUPeace and ECPD aim to provide innovative solutions to social, technological, and economic challenges on both a regional and global scale.
