Comillas Pontifical University is proud to host the highly anticipated EUPeace Autumn Meetings on 26-27 September 2024. This pivotal gathering will bring together the full spectrum of EUPeace’s leadership—including the Governing Board, Education Board, Steering Committee, and, for the first time, the Senate—to chart the next steps for the Alliance’s mission of fostering peace, justice, and inclusive societies across Europe.

For the first time in EUPeace history, the newly formed Senate, composed of representatives from all nine member universities representing key stakeholders (students, PhD candidates, early-career researchers, faculty, and administrative personnel), will convene. This milestone event will set the stage for critical discussions on the Alliance’s future and ensure diverse voices are integral to shaping its direction. Together, they will refine the Senate’s role and initiatives leading up to its next meeting in April 2025.

In tandem, the Governing Board and Steering Committee will advance discussions on one of the Alliance’s core objectives: the establishment of EUPeace as a powerhouse in research. The creation of four dedicated Research Hubs marks a transformative moment for the Alliance. Focused on pressing global challenges—‘Security and Conflict Transformation,’ ‘Climate Science and Just Transition,’ ‘Inclusive Health,’ and ‘Migration and Human Rights’—these Hubs will unite laboratories and researchers across Europe to collaborate on groundbreaking projects, directly contributing to the pursuit of peace and justice.

Meanwhile, the Education Board will focus on refining the innovative EUPeace European Track, an initiative set to revolutionise education within the Alliance. The EUPeace European Track will provide students from every discipline with access to unique EUPeace content and transformative learning experiences, fostering intercultural and interdisciplinary collaboration. By graduation, all students will emerge with deep theoretical and practical expertise on inclusion, peace, and justice—hallmarks of the EUPeace vision.

The Autumn Meetings will also feature key strategic conversations involving university rectors and presidents, vice-rectors and vice-presidents, academic leaders, and administrative staff as well as students on the long-term governance and structure of EUPeace. Central to these discussions will be the potential creation of a dedicated EUPeace legal entity, a step that would cement the Alliance’s long-term stability and impact.

As EUPeace continues to expand its reach and influence, this gathering will mark a crucial step in its mission to shape a more peaceful, just, and inclusive future for Europe and the world.
