07.04.2025 EUPeace Spring Meetings & 1st Strategy Forum

The EUPeace Spring Meetings and 1st Strategy Forum are taking place on 7-8 April 2025 in Adana, Türkiye, graciously hosted by Çukurova University. This event brings together all key stakeholders of the Alliance, including the Governing Board, Education Board, Steering Committee, Senate, Student Council, Equality Diversity and Inclusion Board, Monitoring Committee, and Quality Assurance Board – and the Strategy Forum of the Alliance. University leaders, faculty, researchers, students, and administrative personnel are engaging in strategic discussions shaping the future of peace, justice, and inclusive societies in Europe and beyond.

As EUPeace approaches two years of its EU-funded Erasmus+ project, the Strategy Forum marks a crucial milestone in shaping its next phase. It serves as a platform to refine strategic priorities, operational frameworks, and governance structures, ensuring alignment across all member institutions. Discussions focus on positioning EUPeace as a key player in addressing global challenges, including democratic resilience and civic engagement, peacebuilding and security, climate action and sustainability, migration and social inclusion, digitalisation and ethical AI, economic inequality and the future of work, higher education and knowledge diplomacy, public health and well-being, European identity and cultural heritage, and Europe’s role as a global model for justice. The Strategy Forum features three key interactive and collaborative sessions to identify key challenges and contributions, refine the Alliance’s objectives, and to strengthen collaboration and communication.

Additionally, each EUPeace body holds individual sessions to advance the key initiatives within the Alliance, including its joint digital campus, joint programmes, the EUPeace European Track, and research collaboration.

A highlight of the Spring Meeting is the public keynote lecture on 7 April 2025, “The UN - Vision with Hope or Division with Hopelessness?”, by Hans-Christof von Sponeck, a distinguished German diplomat and former UN Assistant Secretary-General. As a Bridge Dialogue Event, this lecture provides a platform for in-depth discussions between scholars, students, and policy-makers to examine the multifaceted challenges facing the United Nations, and to discuss the “Pact for the Future”, adopted by the UN General Assembly in September 2024.

As EUPeace moves into a phase of consolidation, the 2025 Spring Meetings in Adana offer a unique opportunity to shape the Alliance’s strategic direction and enhance its impact in fostering a more peaceful, just, and inclusive future.
