30.09.2024 Shaping Society Through Educational Alliances
The Higher Education Institutions Conference (HEIC), organized by the Zagreb School of Economics and Management (ZSEM) and the Luxembourg School of Business (LSB), recently hosted a thought-provoking panel discussion titled “What We’ve Learnt So Far from the European Alliances.” This event, held on September 19, 2024, in Dubrovnik, Croatia, brought together leading scholars and experts to explore the outcomes and insights derived from various European higher education alliances. The discussion was expertly moderated by Dr. Dubravka Kovačević of ZSEM.
Panelists included:
Prof. Dr. Enita Nakaš (University of Sarajevo, EUPeace)
Prof. Dr. Izabela Grabowska (Kozminski University, EUonAIR)
Nick Andersson (Stockholm School of Economics, CIVICA)
Prof. Dr. Metka Tekavčič (University of Ljubljana, Eutopia)
Together, they examined key insights from initiatives like EUPeace, EUonAIR, CIVICA, and Eutopia. Prof. Nakaš emphasized the transformative power of alliances, highlighting their profound impact on both universities and society as a whole. She noted that the real influence of these collaborations extends beyond academic topics, stating, “This is the most important moment for the alliances—their ability to reach beyond institutional boundaries and impact society.”
Dr. Kovačević opened the discussion with an overview of the alliances' objectives, which set the stage for a rich exchange of ideas among the panelists. The session concluded with a dynamic Q&A, where attendees contributed diverse perspectives, further enriching the dialogue.
This event marks a significant step in strengthening cooperation among European universities and fostering a more interconnected educational framework that benefits not only institutions but also the broader society.
