On 24 and 25 October, EUPeace Work Package 2 (“Transforming Curricula“) met at the University of Mostar – both in person and virtually – to discuss the Alliance’s ongoing work in shared and joint curriculum development at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Over the course of two highly productive and enjoyable days, colleagues discussed the latest developments in the Alliance’s new “Virtual European Exchange Programme“ (VEEP) for virtual teaching and learning, as well as plans and provisions for teaching staff mobility. The development of “micro-credential“ was another important focal point: a series of life-long learning courses through which we plan to extend our training and education offers beyond our regular student populations and into our communities.

Last but absolutely not least, the team forged ahead with plans for the European Track, our bespoke EUPeace certificate for students across our Alliance. Set to launch in 2025-26, this programme will not only offer our students the chance to think about and grapple with Europe’s biggest present and future challenges from multiple disciplinary perspectives; it will also encourage the student and staff mobility – both physical and virtual – that will be vital to our Alliance’s development in the coming years.

With the hard work done (at least for now), it was finally time to down tools and explore the stunningly beautiful historic centre of Mostar. A guided tour wound its way through the cobbled streets uniquely shaped by this city’s rich, multifaceted, and sometimes tragic history, including the iconic Old Bridge that provides EUPeace’s mascot. The trip as a whole, brilliantly hosted by our dear Mostar colleague Jelena Jurčić, was rounded off with delicious local cuisine, Bosnian coffee and baklava, and – of course – promises to return…
