The European Core Curriculum („European Track)
With the creation of the European Core Curriculum (“European Track”), EUPeace will develop both EUPeace signature content and formats of teaching and learning, available to any student independently of the specific subject area within the Alliance. The aim is that all students graduating from one of the Alliance’s universities have experienced intercultural and interdisciplinary collaboration as well as a strong theoretical and practical knowledge of inclusion and necessary conditions for peace, justice, and inclusive societies.
A long-term perspective and key element in developing this joint European Track is to introduce a common element beyond the realm of the Social Sciences and Humanities. The specific goal is to make available a pool of matching courses within the Alliance, offering the possibility to gain from 3 to 18 ECTS. The European Track reflects European History, Identity, and political structure (EU and Council of Europe) as well as the European approach to conflict resolution and peace-building, both from a general European perspective and from other regional or country-specific non-EU perspectives (Africa, Middle East, Asia, Americas). The curriculum will reflect a critical decolonising perspective on European history and contemporary societies, which includes topics like migration, climate change, global economic and security policies, as well as power dynamics within Europe. Mobility (physical, blended, virtual) is a crucial element of the European track.
EUPeace will organise an annual interdisciplinary “Teaching Europe” conference for teaching staff and students. One conference will be dedicated to the creation of the European Track.
