Hangout spot | Especially in summer, the areas on the banks of the river Lahn are very popular. The Stadtpark Wieseckaue (am Schwanenteich) is also a popular place for students to do sports, play games or just chill out. The cafés and canteens at the various campuses of Giessen University also offer a meeting place for many students. |
Opportunities to meet people |
Further opportunities to meet new people are for example cultural centres like the Lokal International, Jokus or the Kü-Ché, where you can have food and drinks as well. But also the co-working space Anschlussverwendung, the Weekly Local Market or the Tuesday Night Skating (in summer) are great opportunities to get in touch with others. |
Events | Enjoy Gießener Kulturnacht in May, the Lahnuferfest or our music festival Stadt ohne Meer in June, or the Christmas markets in November and December. |
Nature Spot |
To enjoy some nature and peace and quiet, the Botanical Garden in the heart of the city, the “Bergwerkswald” forest on the edge of the city and the hill Schiffenberg with its monastery offer opportunities for walks and relaxation. |
